Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Prime Golf Shafts different?

Prime Golf Shafts were developed using decades of professional fitting and Tour experience. Rather than creating a shaft for one specific type of player, our focus is on delivering consistent feel, stability, and performance that golfers can trust when professionally fitted.

Why are Prime Golf Shafts priced lower than many premium brands?

Prime Golf Shafts focus on delivering tour-inspired performance without the premium marketing costs associated with many established brands. Our goal is to provide exceptional performance and value while maintaining high manufacturing standards.

Are Prime Golf Shafts suitable for high-handicap golfers?

Yes. Prime Golf Shafts are designed for golfers of all abilities. Selecting the correct flex and having the shaft professionally fitted are far more important than handicap alone.

Can this shaft fit my driver?

Yes, provided the correct adapter is installed by your club builder. Prime shafts are supplied as raw shafts and can be built to fit most major driver brands using the appropriate adapter.

Can I install the shaft myself?

Unless you have the correct tools and experience, we recommend having the shaft installed by a qualified club builder to ensure proper trimming, adapter installation, epoxy bonding, and swing weight.

Why do you recommend professional fitting?

A golf shaft performs best when matched to your individual swing characteristics, including swing speed, tempo, release point, and desired ball flight. Professional fitting helps ensure the correct flex, playing length, swing weight, and overall club performance.

Is this a complete golf club?

No. This product is a 46" raw graphite golf shaft only. It is supplied uncut, without a grip or clubhead, and is intended to be professionally built by a qualified club fitter or club builder.

Does the shaft come with an adapter or grip?

No. The shaft is supplied on its own. Adapters, grips, trimming, and installation are completed during the custom fitting and club building process.

What is Active Taper Technology (ATT)?

Active Taper Technology is Prime's shaft design philosophy, engineered to optimise energy transfer throughout the golf swing. The result is improved stability, consistent loading, and reliable performance across a wide range of swing styles.

What launch profile does the Prime shaft produce?

Prime Golf Shafts are engineered to deliver a low-to-mid launch with controlled spin, promoting a penetrating ball flight while maintaining excellent feel and consistency.

What swing speed suits each flex?

While every golfer is different, a general guide is:

  • Regular: Approximately 80–95 mph driver swing speed
  • Stiff: Approximately 95–105 mph
  • Extra Stiff: Approximately 105+ mph

A professional fitting will always provide the most accurate recommendation.

Which flex should I choose?

As a general guide:

  • Regular (R): Moderate swing speeds seeking a smooth feel and easy launch.
  • Stiff (S): Medium to faster swing speeds looking for stability and control.
  • Extra Stiff (X): Faster, more aggressive swings requiring maximum stability.

If you're unsure, we recommend consulting your club fitter before ordering.

What material is the shaft made from?

Prime Golf Shafts are manufactured using premium-performance graphite designed to provide an excellent balance of feel, stability, weight, and consistency.

Can I return the shaft after it has been built?

No. Once a shaft has been cut, tipped, fitted with an adapter, or assembled into a club, it cannot be returned. Please ensure you order the correct flex before any work is carried out.
